philosophy My philosophy on training, nutrition, and attitude...
With a positive attitude and the determination to work hard, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to; especially when it comes to weight loss and physical fitness.
You have to begin a fitness and nutrition program with an open mind. It is a waste of time to start a program unless your mind is open to change, and to at least be willing to step outside of your own perspective about what you need to do to get fit. If you are tired of getting nowhere, then you have to step out of your comfort zone, and be willing to make a lifestyle change.
Remember, YOU are the embodiment of your thoughts and actions. Your thought process, whether it be conscious or subconscious is at the root of the problems you may be having with your diet, weight, lack of results in the gym etc...and YOU have the ability to turn that COMPLETELY around.
I am much more than a Personal Trainer, My background is in health/sports medicine, and I have studied exstensively in the field of life coaching, lifestyle fitness coaching, Psychology, and I believe that your thoughts are, by your focused efforts- manifested into your reality with the right coaching and attitude. While the actual training and nutrition part of my programs is a basic science, I offer a new, fresh approach to diet and exersise that will change more than the physical body, but the mind and spirit as well.

Fitness for Mature Adults
It is never too late to start a fitness and nutrition program! The key is to be able to understand your body and its capabilities and limitations. The primary goal of starting a fitness program is to bring back the vitality of your youth, lower your risk for heart problems and bone mass loss, and to strengthen the mind, the entire body inside and out as well as making lifespan longer. It is necessary now more than ever with the costs of medical care, to do as much "preventative maintenance" as possible. Remember the old adage, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". That definitely applies here!
Balance is important as we age, and core strength (abdominal strength) not only helps us have better balance, but keeps our backs erect, and makes us stronger in every other part of the body.
I work with mature adults differently than I work with my younger clients. Actually I work with EVERYONE differently, because my programs are individualized to each clients needs and goals. With mature adults it is important to start out nice and easy, and steadily increase the pace in your cardiovascular training and the resistance in your strength training, as well as to maintain optimal balance between the two.
It is a proven fact, that men and women who begin an exercize and nutrition program in their mature years, signifigantly decrease health risks, and are able to live longer lives where they feel rejuvenated and strong. Many of my clients have come to me as Insulin dependent Diabetics, sufferers of hypertension, heart disease, high cholestoral, anemia, thrombocytopenia and many more... After working with me for a few months, many of the symptoms of each of these issues and others were either completely gone, or controlable without medications. God did not intend our bodies to be filled with drugs and chemicals. The body, being the most sophisticated machine in the world, was created for work, and what has happened with the advances in technology to reduce labor, and the way foods are processed and sold to make them less expensive-- is that we have become a world of unhealthy people. Food was meant to be eaten whole, not processed. Processed foods are converted to simple sugars by our bodies, thus the reason for weight gain, and diabetes. The inactivity of the human body causes the bones to deteriorate , muscles to atrophy, and our arteries to become clogged and hardened along with an unmeasurable list of other complications.
So I help people who are already suffering from these complications, as well as those who are not suffering but want to prevent them from arising in the future. I make fitness fun, but I am also an educator and coach. Its better to understand the physiology behind what I am training you to do, than to just do it because someone tells you to. After working a good program with me, you will have a full bank of knowledge to guide you through your own fitness program for the rest of your long HEALTHY life! There is no reason that you must poison yourself with toxic medications to control all of the above issues, when you can do it on your own, the way your body was created to do in the first place!

3D Flip What is a BMI percentile?
After BMI is calculated for children and teens, the BMI number is plotted on the CDC BMI-for-age growth charts (for either girls or boys) to obtain a percentile ranking. Percentiles are the most commonly used indicator to assess the size and growth patterns of individual children in the United States. The percentile indicates the relative position of the child's BMI number among children of the same sex and age. The growth charts show the weight status categories used with children and teens (underweight, healthy weight, overweight, and obese).
BMI-for-age weight status categories and the corresponding percentiles are shown in the following table.
Weight Status Category Percentile Range
Underweight Less than the 5th percentile
Healthy weight 5th percentile to less than the 85th percentile
Overweight 85th to less than the 95th percentile
Obese Equal to or greater than the 95th percentile
